I am a senior at University of Massachusetts Amherst majoring in Journalism and doing double minors in Film Studies and Anthropology. I transferred from Taylor’s College in Malaysia to the United States in fall 2010 under Malaysian government scholarship, and since then has been exploring the ever changing field of journalism here. My skills in journalism is best built at multimedia reporting which includes blogging, broadcasting, video journalism, and photojournalism.
I have been working on a several documentary projects and got published onMasslive.com, Northampton Community Television (NCTV), UMass Photojournalism, Amherst Media, and Jones Library‘s website, where many of my works revolve on the stories of immigrants and their experiences in America. My main subject of interest is people, and particularly how they articulate their culture and develop their identity in the ever-changing America.
Currently residing in Western Massachusetts, I am open for paid and unpaid photo-documentary project and assignment involving the community and people around UMass Amherst, and the Five College area.
I was a part of PopIN from 2009 to 2010, which is a Malaysian internet-based information network that deals with youth, socio-political issues and ‘Malaysiana’ content. With PopIN I co-curated PopIN:PopOUT 3: PM PM! – PopMuda proposals for Prime Minister, and hosted weekly online show MP3.
I studied History at the University of Burgundy in France. Then I moved to Paris to attend a graduate program, at La Sorbonne, in Journalism.
This year, I am enrolled at UMass Amherst University where I follow the journalism program.
During my studies, I travelled (almost) all over Europe. I lived in Czech Republic for five months and in Albania for three months. I’ve been living in the U.S. for six months now.
